Do I need to pay to use Reelsy?
No. Core utilities including timeline scrubbing, volume controls, and adaptive UI layouts are completely free forever. You only purchase the Lifetime Pro version if you need the advanced tools like Auto-Scroll, frame-by-frame analysis, and playback speed adjustments.
How do I install the extension?
Reelsy is distributed as an independent developer tool. You can install it in 10 seconds:
- Extract your downloaded
.zipfile. - Go to
chrome://extensionsin your Chromium browser and turn on Developer mode (top right). - Click Load unpacked and select the extracted Reelsy folder.
What permissions does Reelsy actually request?
Reelsy's manifest requests only activeTab and storage scoped to instagram.com. It cannot read other tabs, your browsing history, or any site outside Instagram, and it never requests your login credentials.
Can I inspect the code before I trust it?
Yes. The unpacked folder is plain, unminified JS you can open in any text editor before loading it — nothing is obfuscated. View the source on GitHub.

Does this interfere with my Instagram account?
No. Reelsy operates entirely within your browser's local sandbox. It does not hook into Instagram's private APIs, send automated requests, or require your account credentials. It simply enhances the standard HTML5 video elements already loaded on the page.
Privacy Policy
Reelsy does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data to any server. It has no analytics, no tracking pixels, and no third-party scripts. Any settings you change (like default playback speed) are saved locally in your own browser via chrome.storage.local and never leave your device.
Reelsy does not require an Instagram login, does not read your DMs, posts, or profile data, and does not communicate with Instagram's private APIs. It only modifies the visual playback controls on video elements already loaded in your browser tab.
